The Love Hypothesis has a premiere date behind it at last: Ali Hazelwood's fake-dating, lab-coat-wearing romance arrived as a Prime Video adaptation on 23 September 2026. Which means a very large number of people met Olive and Adam this week for the first time, and a rather larger number are already deciding what to read next.

What happened with The Love Hypothesis?

The screen adaptation of The Love Hypothesis premiered on Prime Video on 23 September 2026. Ali Hazelwood's novel, a fake-dating romance set among graduate students and faculty in STEM, is the source material.

Adaptation day does a particular thing to a romance novel. It sends thousands of people to the book for the first time, and it sends everyone who already loved it straight back to page one.

What should you read after The Love Hypothesis?

Readers finishing the adaptation are pointing each other towards Ali Hazelwood's other STEM romances, chiefly Love on the Brain and Love, Theoretically. If you liked Olive and Adam arguing their way through academia, that is the shelf you want.

One detail worth knowing before you pick up Love, Theoretically: readers report that Olive and Carlsen turn up in a cameo. Small crossovers like that are half the pleasure of reading an author's backlist in order.

And a reread counts. It is entirely reasonable to watch an adaptation and immediately go back to the original to see what they changed.

Is a new edition of The Love Hypothesis coming?

A special edition of The Love Hypothesis is expected in December 2026, and readers who came to the novel through the adaptation are already planning around it. Details beyond the month have not been confirmed.

The Bookclub Boutique will pass on the particulars — cover, finishes, extras — once they are announced rather than guessed at.
