Brynne Weaver's Butcher and Blackbird has its two leads. Amazon MGM Studios announced on 22 October 2026 that Emma Laird and Thomas Doherty have been cast in the Prime Video adaptation of the bestselling novel. Two names, one very loved book, and a fandom that has been waiting for exactly this sentence.

Who has been cast in Butcher and Blackbird?

Emma Laird and Thomas Doherty have been cast in Amazon MGM Studios' adaptation of Brynne Weaver's Butcher and Blackbird. The studio confirmed both names itself, which is the only kind of casting news worth repeating.

Amazon MGM Studios has not said which role each actor will play. Until the studio does, anything you read pairing a name to a character is someone guessing out loud.

Where will the Butcher and Blackbird adaptation stream?

The Butcher and Blackbird adaptation is being made for Prime Video, with Amazon MGM Studios producing. That places it on the same streaming service as the studio's other book-to-screen projects.

No premiere date, episode count or format details have been announced. The casting announcement is the whole of it so far, which is usually the sign that a production is getting close to moving.

What is Butcher and Blackbird?

Butcher and Blackbird is a bestselling novel by Brynne Weaver, and it is the book Amazon MGM Studios has chosen to adapt for Prime Video. Weaver built her following on word of mouth, the kind that travels through book clubs faster than any marketing budget.

If you have been meaning to read it before the screen version arrives, now is the moment. A casting announcement is the traditional starting gun for the race between a reader and a release date, and The Bookclub Boutique has watched enough of them to know the book always wins.
